It’s time for Hawaii!!!
From the 7th of January to the 20th, I will be in Hawaii for work and it’s so exciting! Of course it’s work and we’ll be doing some serious stuff while we’re there, but it’s freaking Hawaii! When I’m not working I’m going to be exploring and relaxing and having the time of my life.
Two full weeks and there’s a federal holiday going on while my coworker and I are there so umm yeah, three day weekend in Hawaii bitches! Can you tell I’m excited, because I am!!!
There’s so many things I’d like to do. Skydive, zipline, learn to surf, go on some hikes, go to a luau, visit Pearl Harbor, possibly check out another island while we’re there. There’s so much!
We’ll be staying in a hotel in Waikiki with beautiful views of the ocean and access to all sorts of activities nearby. Two weeks sounds like plenty of time, but I know it’s going to fly by like the blink of an eye!
I’m taking one traveling backpack with me. My Osprey Porter 46 Travel Pack. I absolutely love it. I’m able to carry everything I need and not too much. I hate checking bags in when flying so I just carry it with me and being that it has straps to turn into a backpack it’s super easy to tote around.
What makes this trip even nicer is that we were able to book nonstop flights from Atlanta to Honolulu and the same on the way back. It’ll be over a 10 flight out there then another 8-9 hour flight on the way home. I shall be taking full advantage of watching movies and reading my books on the planes.

It’s 5:05am. As excited as I am I’m also extremely tired. I was up until 11 (I usually go to bed at 9) because I had to do a shit ton of laundry and pack for this trip. I finally finished that and now this morning I need to go back over everything just to make sure I’m not forgetting anything. Am I the only one that usually forgets to take at least one thing?
I absolutely love traveling. This is even better since my work is paying for it and it was rather unexpected. I’m not complaining though. Two weeks in Hawaii. Who can complain about that??

I’ve been in Hawaii for a week now and it’s been absolutely wonderful. The sights, the views, the weather. I’d say the sounds too, but I don’t really appreciate sirens going off in the middle of the night waking me up haha.
Most of this first week was spent at work, but every evening my coworker and I have gone out in Waikiki and have tried a new restaurant.
When we arrived in Hawaii we quickly discovered why it’s called the Rainbow State since there was a rainbow there upon our arrival.
We picked up our BMW 420i convertible rental car and then we were on our way to the hotel. The weather was amazing. The views of the mountains rising taller than everything else was amazing and just the feeling of actually being in Hawaii was amazing. On that first drive though we weren’t too impressed with some of the buildings. I came to find out later that the area we drove through wasn’t the best and that definitely explained it because we found some much nicer places later on and it was really nice in Waikiki where we were staying.
Since we were staying in Waikiki we were pretty much able to walk to all of the restaurants and shops that we needed to from our hotel so once we’d get back from work we’d usually just stay around that area for the rest of the night. It was wonderful not having to drive everywhere. I love being able to just walk out the door and go walk to wherever I need to go.
For work, we had about a 45 minute drive to the middle of the island. Don’t ask me what the name of the town is we were close to. I can’t remember what anything is named on the island. Work is work though and boring so I’m not really going to dive into that at all. Luckily though we were going the opposite way of the heavy traffic which was a huge relief. Traffic is absolutely terrible on Oahu in my opinion, but we fortunately didn’t really run into any issues.
Our first week of being there wasn’t really all that exciting to be honest. We arrived on a Sunday and headed into work the next day and did the same until Friday. Then once off of work we’d go explore Waikiki and find a new restaurant every night to eat at. I do have to say that I was never one bit disappointed with the food I ate while in Hawaii. Everything was delicious!
Unfortunately, like I said, we didn’t really have that much time to see or do much the first week since we were packed with work. Stayed tuned though for next week, because over the weekend things got really exciting!!
