In my last post I talked about books that made the greatest impact on me in 2018. For this post, I’m going to talk about the books I plan to read for the upcoming year! It’s going to be a little different for me because I’ve never planned out a reading list and of course things usually change as the year goes on, but I’d like to be a little more organized in 2019. So, here we go!
For the New Year, I’m joining a virtual book club! It’s called Culture Catalyst Book Club and it stems from the founders of a company called Take Back Work, which you can find more about here. They’re a workplace culture consultancy whose focus is to help you create a new or transform a current culture in your workplace. As part of the book club, there’s a book a month that we’ll be reading revolving around the ideas of workplace culture and leadership. The following books are what we’ll be reading and in the order we’ll be reading them:
- The Power of Habit – by Charles Duhigg (I’ve read this one before and it’s definitley worth reading again. Great book to help start 2019 in the right direction!)
- Your Best Just Got Better – by Jason Womack
- Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us – by Daniel Pink
- Work Rules! – by Laszlo Bock
- The Happiness Advantage – by Shawn Anchor
- Radical Candor – by Kim Malone Scott
- Give and Take – by Adam Grant
- Turn the Ship Around – by L. David Marquet
- An Everyone Culture – by Robert Kegan & Lisa Laskow Lahey
- Rebels At Work – by Carmen Medina & Lois Kelly
- The Fearless Organization – by Amy Edmondson
- Multipliers – by Liz Wiseman
I’m really looking forward to being a part of this book club and the conversations and actions reading these books will lead to. If you’d like to join in as well be sure to go join the Culture Catalyst Book Club Facebook page!
I also have another list of books that I’ll be reading on my own that will vary different topics covering real estate, money, business, China, food, beer, and gay rights.
- Good to Great – by Jim Collins
- On China – by Henry Kissinger
- Stonewall – by Martin Duberman
- The Book on Estimating Rehab Costs – by J. Scott
- Finding and Funding Great Deals – by Anson Young
- Loaded – by Sarah Newcomb
- The Language of Food – by Dan Jerafsky
- Brewing Up A Business – by Sam Calagione
- Off-Centered Leadership – by Sam Calagione
- Shoe Dog – by Phil Knight
- The E-Myth Revisited – by Michael E. Gerber
- Promise Me, Dad – by Joe Biden
- Man’s Search for Meaning – by Victor Frankl
- Principles – by Ray Dalio
As you can see, I have a lot of reading planned! Whether I read them all is not really my concern. If I do then that’s awesome and if I don’t get around to all of them that’s awesome too because it’s not about how many books you read. It’s about the information you can take away from them and apply to your life to continuously make improvements!
Happy reading everyone and Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best in 2019!
